The Maharashtra government has said it will review a proposal to create an additional police commissioner office for Kondhwa after seeking a detailed report from Pune police. The move follows concerns over law and order in Kondhwa and adjoining areas.
The issue was raised in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, where members flagged security concerns and the need for stronger policing arrangements in the fast-growing locality. The government said the matter would be examined on the basis of the police assessment.
Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar would submit a detailed report before any final decision is taken. The report is expected to address administrative requirements, local policing pressure and the feasibility of a separate office.
The state government also indicated that police strength in the area could be increased if needed. For now, the proposal remains under consideration, with the final call to depend on the findings and recommendations submitted by Pune police.
